How should I get items ready for storage?

Clean and dry appliances. Empty gas from mowers and small engines. Wrap mirrors and framed art. Label boxes on the top and one side, and keep a list of what is in storage.

What is the difference between short-term and long-term storage?

Short-term covers a few days to a few weeks, common between closings or leases. Long-term covers months, common during a remodel, a job assignment, or a downsizing.
